Privacy policy
Tani, the operator of HanOpen, handles personal information as described below. This policy covers hanopen.com and email inquiries. It takes effect on 9 September 2026.
Documents you convert
Files selected in a tool are read and processed in your browser. Document text, filenames, preview images and document hashes are not sent to a server. Selecting a file does not upload it or send an email.
The site does not keep selected documents or intermediate results on its server or in browser local storage. Closing the tab discards the conversion data, so download any output you need. Original files and downloaded results remain under your control on your device.
Site access logs
The web server delivering pages and program files records request times, requested addresses, response status and size, browser information and referrers. Query values you put in an address can appear in the requested address. Documents and filenames selected in a tool are not part of these requests. Logs are used for security and fault investigation.
Logs are checked for rotation daily, keeping the current log and up to 14 previous log files. Empty logs are skipped, so this is not a fixed deletion period of 14 days. This web server setting does not control Cloudflare’s retention.
Delivery through Cloudflare
HanOpen uses the network of Cloudflare, Inc. to deliver pages. Cloudflare processes visitor IP addresses and request information for delivery and security. Its international processing can include the United States and the European Economic Area. Cloudflare’s own privacy policy describes its processing and retention. Converted document contents are not sent to Cloudflare.
Usage measurement and advertising
HanOpen uses Google Analytics to understand page visits and improve its document tools. Page addresses, page titles and referring page addresses are sent with browser, device, region and usage information. For DOCX, Markdown, HTML and text conversions, we also send the output format, elapsed time, success and failure counts, and counts of tables, images and notes. We do not send selected filenames, document text, preview images or document hashes.
The site removes query strings and fragments from the page and referrer addresses supplied to Analytics. Automatic search, link, form and download measurement is disabled. Google Signals and advertising personalization are also disabled.
In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are denied until you accept. Outside these regions, analytics cookies can be used before you make a choice. You can decline or change your preference at the bottom of any page. Declining switches measurement to cookieless signals; it does not stop every request to Google. All conversion tools remain available.
Google LLC processes the measurement requests, which include connection information such as IP addresses. Processing can take place outside your country, including in the United States. Our Analytics property is set to retain event and user data for two months without resetting the period on new activity. This setting does not limit aggregated standard reports. Google notes that retention-setting changes can take 24 hours to apply. Its policies describe other processing and retention. HanOpen currently displays no ads and loads no advertising code.
Browser storage
Your light or dark display preference is kept in this site's browser local storage. Your analytics choice and the time you made it are stored there too. An analytics choice is valid for 180 days; after that, the site asks again. Expiration does not automatically erase the old stored value. Changing your choice replaces it, and clearing site data removes it.
When analytics storage is allowed, Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_ cookies to distinguish visits and sessions. Google's default cookie lifetime is two years and can be shortened by the browser; repeat visits can renew it. Declining analytics removes the site's accessible _ga cookies and tells the Google tag to use denied analytics storage.
Pages and program files can remain in the browser's normal cache. Converted documents are not written to local storage, IndexedDB or a site cache.
Inquiry emails and retention
When you email us, Tani receives your reply address, sender display name, message and any files you attach. They are used to answer your question and investigate the problem. Messages are received and stored through NAVER Mail. Sending an attachment by email is separate from processing a document locally in a tool.
Inquiry messages and separately saved inquiry material are deleted within 30 days after we finish responding to your inquiry, including deleted-message folders and separate copies. NAVER’s privacy policy governs the mail service’s own processing and backup deletion. Please send an error description or a redacted example instead of a sensitive original.
Requests about your information
You can contact us below to request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your information, including questions about Analytics. Identifying the relevant email or approximate time of access helps us investigate. We may ask for information needed to verify the request.
HanOpen has no user accounts or server copies of converted documents. You can change analytics preferences at the bottom of any page and delete browser preferences and downloaded files yourself. Changing analytics preferences affects future measurement; it does not automatically erase data already processed by Google. All tools remain available without sending an inquiry.
Children’s information
HanOpen is a general document utility and is not designed to collect children’s personal information. A parent or guardian can contact us if an inquiry contains a child’s personal information or needs to be deleted.
Policy changes
Changes to how information is handled are published in the relevant section of this page with an updated effective date. This includes the introduction of analytics or ads and changes to collected information.
